“Made from an actual piece of a tree from the estate of James Monroe”

James Monroe White Oak Ceo Series-with bust engraved on pen. Limited edition of 500 in series.

This CEO Style pen features White Oak from the Ash Lawn-Highland estate of James Monroe. Elected the fifth President of the United States in 1816 and in 1820, James Monroe resolved long-standing grievances with the British, acquired Florida from the Spanish in 1819, and proclaimed the Monroe Doctrine in 1823. Monroe was best known for the Monroe Doctrine which declared in a few paragraphs of President James Monroe's seventh annual message to Congress on December 2, 1823. Monroe warned European countries not to interfere in the Western Hemisphere, stating "that the American continents are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European powers." The Monroe Doctrine became a cornerstone of future U.S. foreign policy.

One branch of the tree was used for this pen. This tree is estimated to be 300-400 years old. This wood was extremely hard and causing smoking in the drilling process. This pen comes with James Monroe’s bust engraved on the upper portion of the pen and a certificate of authenticity. The pen offers a rich 22k gold hand-cast engraved insets on the cap and barrel ends surrounded by brilliant Rhodium plating (Rhodium is a member of the Platinum family). This pen is available as a smooth flowing German made Schmidt® rollerball, Iridium tipped medium fountain or both/dual. An upgraded fountain nib in 18kt gold is also available. This one of a kind pen was handcrafted from a block of wood using a proprietary 64 step process by Frederick fine handcrafted writing instruments a.k.a. frederickpens.com.
