About the Artist...
Nicholas Frederick is an independent pen maker who handcrafted the enclosed pens. Nicholas resides full time in Scottsdale, AZ. He began his passion of working with wood over 24 years ago. Nicholas’s father is a pen maker as well and introduced him to the art. Nicholas really enjoys creating pens that are unique with a story. He has worked with over 100 different materials, spanning the 7 continents, and continually searches for new material, as a challenge. Each pen begins as a block and is hand turned on a lathe (one at a time), hand sanded, hand finished (with at least 3 coats of finish), and hand assembled.
What differentiates a Frederick Pen is: the story with each pen, use of the highest quality, highly figured wood and other material, use of precious metals (such as 22kt Gold, Rhodium -a member of the platinum family, Silver and Titanium) and a durable long lasting finish. As a result, the goal of each Frederick Pen is to provide uniqueness and innovation in a premium product.
Present owners of Frederick Pens include: doctors, surgeons, lawyers, pen collectors, business Executives and even a few dignitaries including Presidential Candidate John McCain. Frederick Pens have also been featured in Stylus Magazine in 2008. Frederick supports local charities with his pens as well including Homemakers by Choice. Nicholas resides in Scottsdale, AZ with his wife and three beautiful girls.
